COMPUTER/TECHNOLOGY CLASS 2008-2009

Week of October 13th, 2008

Grade 8- Students will learn how to use Movie Maker to enhance projects for school. Add effects. transition, titles and video.

Grade 7- Students skills include Columns with text & pictures. Project will be to make a Newspaper style document for projects for school. Test on Word Screen

Grade 6- Students will apply skills in MS Word to format a table with alignment and table properties for size. They will now be able to add Tables in their reports for school . Test on Word Screen

Grade 5 Students will apply skills that include headers & footers. They will layer designs for effects in designing to enhance projects in MS Word. Test on Word Screen

Grade 4 Students will apply a page border in WOrd . Test on Word Screen

Grade 3- Students will continue to type a paragraph format using correction punctuation and spacing. Add font-font color-font size to paragraph. Indents will be allpied when paragraphs are completed.

Grade 2- Students will add bold, italics and underline and alignment to words.

Grade 1- Students will apply font size to spelling words.

Grade K- Students will use parts of a computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse. Students apply skills on desktop by opening and closing Paint software. Insert circles and rectangles with fill color.

Classroom Rules Grades 4-8

Bring folder evey week/No writing on folder
Respect others during class
Parent's signature on assignments must be returned in 2 weeks
If you are not in the computer classroom you must makeup the class missed. Please see Mrs Brousseau for scheduling a time to makeup class. All makeups must be made up before the next class. This will help you understand the skills you missed.

If the above rules 1-2-3 have not been followed 1 demerit will be given. However, if you do not makeup your class before the following weeks' class 2 demerits will be given. If during the remaining year you miss making up class 3 demerits will be given. I schedule this time for you and you must be responsible for the missing work.

Guess what is new at St Ephrem school-

We have a new Laptop Room (old 8B classroom) with 16 new Dell laptops in a cart and a new printer. Our school was given a grant from the Connelly/Sullivan foundation. The laptops have the Operating System - Vista and also has MS Office 2007. Our school is wireless for students using school laptops in classrooms.

.Practice your keyboarding during the school year. Try 3 days of just 10 minutes. Keep your hands in the Home Row position. Below are 2 websites and I may add more so keep typing and check back.
