Homework

Religion:  Read and talk about pages 35 to 42 God Speaks to Us

Math:  Worksheet in folder - Addition facts with sums to 10

Reading:  Worksheet in folder - short a word families Children need only to color the bodies - more if they wish  I have also included in the folder the HFW words for Theme 2.  Keep at home and use as flash cards.  The list and sentences will be put in their studybook.

I have finally calculated the cost of the Scholastic magazine and it will be $4.50 per child.  Send to school when financially possibly.  I have already paid the bill so if writing a check, you can make it out to me or Saint Ephrem School.  I think the children really enjoy these little magazines and feel that they learn something new from each one that we do.  Thanks to all who have sent in their fee!

If anyone has old tennis balls at home, it would be great if you could cut a slit in them so that we can put them on the feet of the children' chairs.  Send as many in as you can!  It will be appreciated!  Thanks to Ryan Dockery and Dylann Algeo for bringing in 2 large bags!  We need a total of 92.  If anyone can volunteer to cut slits in the balls, please e-mail me or send me a note and I will gladly send some home.  Thank you in advance!  Thanks to the dads who volunteered to cut the slits in the tennis balls.  Your child has given me the message and I will send the balls home over the weekend.  Thanks for your help!

The Reading Log has finally reached home! The children are required to read 5 books by the end of November.(More if they would like.)  If they read 1 each day, they will meet the 10 book quota by the end of this month.  Please return the log by December 1.  I will ask them to bring one of the books to school to read to the class.  We will begin the oral reading tomorrow.  I am doing this for two reasons; one, to help children become comfortable with oral reading and secondly to complete a project we are involved in with Scholastic Books.  We have promised Scholastic we would read 100 books to build libraries for children in need.  I will keep you updated on our project.

More yellow and red bears are going home now as I feel the children should be conscious of what is expected from them.  They now know that there will be consequences if they accumulate a certain number of bears within a month.  Please reinforece the importance of respect, honesty, obedience, responsibility, and kindness.  These all have an impact on whether children will receive a yellow or red bear.

Mrs. Schauder has informed me that the children will need a red sweatshirt for the Holiday presentation.  The children will also be wearing some type of hat.  Mrs. Schauder estimates the cost to be around $4.00.  More info to come!

Thank you so much for understanding and your cooperation.
